2. SLUGGER
Weighing just a bit over four pounds at birth, we were told that Braxten might be a bit slower to develop than children with a more normal birth weight. We wondered and worried about that for a few months, but as the first couple of years passed and we got the opportunity to watch her grow, we realized the fears were ungrounded. We are so proud and so lucky to have the remarkable little girl that we have come to call Slugger
3. NIGHT OF DEVASTATION
On August 15th, 2004, Hurricane Ivan was swirling and roaring in the Gulf of Mexico, ready to unleash his deadly dance along the Florida coastline. Gale force winds sent huge waves crashing onto the white sand beaches, and Gulf residents were preparing for what might be one of the worst storms in history. Even though we knew the storm was coming, most people didn't expect the outbreak of tornados that Ivan would produce that evening and night. In the town of Marianna, some 70 miles inland, I watched the skies, and waited.
4. REFLECTIONS OF A SECOND HAND HEART
I am approaching that time of life when there is much less ahead of me than is behind, and I will soon find myself face to face with my seventieth year. I have been writing all of my life, and the last few years I have turned to writing novels and many short stories, both of which I dearly love to write. However, my first love was writing poems, and the collection I've presented here will perhaps represent the way I look at life, love, and all things about living. They are, for the most part, intensely personal, and it is my hope that you will find something here that will give you some enjoyment.
